Project Description
For our 2nd semester final group project, Beauty of Bali, I worked on backend development and handled all the API integrations. The website is meant to be an interactive way to explore Balinese culture and nature, with sections about museums, beaches, and local food. The frontend was built using React and Vite, with HTML, CSS, JSX, and Tailwind CSS.
Notes & Reflection
One thing I'm really proud of is my idea to add small games to the site. I noticed that a lot of educational websites don't have enough interaction, which can make them kind of boring and easy to lose interest in. I thought adding games would help users engage more and learn in a fun way, and from the feedback we got, it really did keep people interested and involved! We also ended up getting the 'Most Fun Website' award too!
Working on this project helped me improve my backend skills and gave me a better understanding of how to connect APIs with the frontend. It also significantly improved my teamwork and collaboration skills. I really enjoyed the way my team worked together, I could share what I knew to help with tasks, and other times I got to learn new things and hear different perspectives from my teammates. It made me realize how much I enjoy building things with others and how important collaboration is in any project.
